ETX90RA Mount Tracking Mod

I brought my old (not used for years) ETX90RA motor driven mount back to life by adding speed (tracking rate) control, and an on/off Led. I also added a universal scope mounting bracket to accept any telescope or camera with a 1/4-20 mounting hole.

The whole assembly, including my ETX90 OTA, fits in this "off the shelf" Stanley tool box with custom foam inserts.

Tripod, mount, telescope, it's all there...should make a good travel scope.

This scope is a breeze to set up and use, and the tracking is fantastic.

Above you can see the RA mount control box I made. A variable resistor is used as the speed control. 2x mode is accomplished by bypassing a resistor on the Meade circuit board, with the two different switches allowing either momentary or full-on 2x power. I used Cat5 networking cable (8 wire) to allow all the different functions. This is one of my favorite creations. Works like a dream!!
