Homemade Heated Eyepiece Box

The Mount

       

The challenge was simply to create a mounting platform for a fully loaded eyepiece box that required not modifying my obsession telescope in any way. I created a non-marking mounting bracket that works like a dream. Mission accomplished!

The Exterior

           

       

A locking top adds a fair amount of security, while the locking side door provides access to a large interior compartment.

The Interior

   

   

The interior of the box was built to fit my assembled Binoviewer,  thus allowing the storage of a large amount of hardware  :)

The Power

       

The EP Box is heated by a homemade 12ohm (total resistance) resistor chain. It draws 1 amp of current at about 12 watts. Also inside the box is a small control circuit that has an on/off switch for its dual 12V RCA outlets...as well as a low/high switch for its red led light. The bottom of the box has power on off switch, a 12v in, 12v Fuse, 12v Out.

I am very pleased with the results of this project!
